Born in 1965, Abdul Gaffar received his Bachelors in Fine Arts from Aurangabad after acquiring an Art Teacher Diploma in Nanded. He has held several solo shows and has participated in a number of group shows in India. In 1985 he won the Leprosy Poster Competition conducted by the Maharashtra Health Department. He went on to winning the All India Railway Art Exhibition in 1985, 1986 and in 1989. In 1986 he won the South Central Railway Women’s Organization Award in Hyderabad. In 1990 he won the first prize in the annual exhibition organized by the Government School of Art in Aurangabad. More recently, in 2001 he won the V.V. Oke Smriti Painting Exhibition held in Pune. The artist lives and works in Nagpur.
