About Apurva Kansara

From a very young age, I have been fascinated with colours and the art of converting them into creative masterpieces. I remember my first painting and how I wished I could make it better. Even as a child, my focus was always into the finer things in life and I strived for the best when it came to art.

I pursued an academic path at school and university to ensure that my basics to survive in the modern world were strong and robust enough to maintain a financially stable lifestyle. However, my passion has always been driven by art and architecture of the natural world. Painting has been a medium that has strengthened my appreciation of the form of creativity. Art, whether realistic or abstract, has enabled me to view things and situations differently and look at my surroundings with a distinct perspective.

Painting has been a natural way for me to express myself. Using pencil, brushes or paints on blank canvases and transforming my imagination into reality has been my way of catharsis and rejuvenation. Painting, to me, has more potential in it to embrace the artists’ emotions than any other media. More specifically, I am fascinated by expressionism. I draw my motivation from the works of the Greats like Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Rembrandt from the History and Leonid Afremov, Richard Serra and Bansky from the Contemporary.  The most striking characteristics of their art is the liberating stroke-work and depiction of characters brought to life just by amalgamating multiple colours.

Being in a cosmopolitan city like Dubai has expanded opportunities for me to witness inspirational art, attend international exhibitions, connect with art scholars from around the world and delve deeper into my passion for art. I believe I can contribute to the society with my art work, by teaching young artists and guiding them through their journey to achieve excellence.

With a view to expand my horizon and to enhance my understanding of creative ecosystem, I have attended the School for Curatorial Practice and Contemporary Art in Venice, Italy during their summer session of 2018.

As a contribution toward my social responsibilities, I have been participating in CRY America charity drive for children’s rights. The funds raised through the auctions of my paintings have been used for various social activities undertaken by CRY America.

In the quest of showcasing my work on global platform, I have participated in various international arts exhibitions organised in Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Dubai and London I know that I can make a positive contribution to the objective of this platform.
