Dr. D. S. Chougale(B. 1961) is a Belagavi-Karnataka (India) based Painter, Playwright and Literary person known for his oil and acrylic works on canvas. His works are mainly based on rural life and rituals of India. In his figurative & abstract arts, you can feel the unique style in his brush strokes. On critic says on his works "Since he is a multidimensional personality, it can be seen that his experience of theatre and literature is highly influenced in his paintings". A professor, Academician, a theatre person and a self taught artist displays the complexity of human nature in his works by using various colours to create a texture with Knife and Brush strokes. His works will remain in viewers mind and will create a inner journey. He served as a member of Karnataka Lalitkala Academy (Fine arts) and Karnataka Nataka Academy (Drama) for Govt of Karnataka. He has been honoured by as many as 16 awards so far out of which 2 are academy awards.
